Arthur Bray’s Yard dates back to the 1850s, when it was a working foundry — a place built on craft, energy and making things properly. Now, that spirit returns as the yard wakes up once more.

Shanty Spirit has been based here for the past three years, quietly distilling coastal botanical vodka and rum just two minutes from Poole Quay. As the yard reopens, we open the doors to our cosy taproom, serving fresh coastal cocktails made on site using the spirits distilled just metres away.At the same time, a new brewery taproom opens next door, bringing fresh beer into the yard and turning it into a place to gather. Add live music, visiting food trucks and shared events, and Arthur Bray’s Yard becomes something special — a producers’ quarter by the sea.

This crowdfunder is your chance to be among the first to experience it.The taproom already exists and has hosted a number of bespoke events, from tastings to private celebrations. It has a working bar, a glowing log burner, and the atmosphere of a place made for good drinks and good company. We’ve already hosted a handful of one-off pilot nights here, giving people an early taste of what’s to come. Backing the crowdfunder helps us unlock the next layer of the space, opening up the mezzanine area and finishing everything properly before opening fully.Backers will receive drinks vouchers with 50% extra to spend in the taproom — early access to the space, the atmosphere, and the first pours as the yard comes alive.

Shanty cocktails are made the way they should be — hand-crafted, properly balanced, and built around real ingredients and coastal flavour.

For the last few years, the Shanty Bar has been “on tour” — serving drinks at events including Poole Harbour Festival, Henley Regatta, Jurassic Fields, and a host of prestigious food and drink festivals. Thousands have tried them, and the response has been the same: busy bars, repeat rounds, and feedback that’s kept us smiling all the way back to the distillery.

You’ll also find Shanty on the menu in some of the area’s finest venues, including St Tropez, Guildhall Tavern, The Priory (Wareham) and The Noisy Lobster.And we won’t stand still — we’ll keep adding new cocktail options using our existing spirits, alongside fresh creations as we develop new Shanty spirits and non-alcoholic options.
