Returns & Refunds

We want you to be happy with your order. This policy explains how returns, exchanges and refunds work for purchases made on our website.

1) Your right to change your mind (cooling-off)

If you’re a consumer in the UK, you have 14 days from the day you receive your order to cancel for any reason. To be eligible, bottles must be unused, sealed and in their original packaging.

  • You must let us know within the 14-day window (see How to start a return below).
  • You then have a further 14 days to send the items back.
  • On valid cancellations, we’ll refund the product price plus the standard outbound delivery charge (if you paid one). Any premium/express delivery upgrade is not refunded.
  • Unless the item is faulty/damaged, you pay the return postage.
  • We’re happy to honour a 30-day return window for unopened bottles if you prefer extra flexibility. The legal cooling-off rules above still apply to refunds of the standard outbound delivery charge.

2) Faulty or damaged items

If your order arrives damaged or defective, email us immediately with your order number and photos at contact@shantyspirit.com.

  • We’ll arrange a replacement or full refund.
  • We cover return shipping for faulty/damaged items.
  • This is in addition to your 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods under UK law.

3) Exchanges

We can exchange unopened products within the applicable return window (14 or 30 days, as above). Replacement items are sent once we receive and inspect the return.

4) Refund timing

  • We aim to process refunds within 7 business days of receiving your return (or acceptable proof of posting).
  • In all cases we’ll refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back or proof that you’ve sent them back (whichever is earlier), to the original payment method.
  • Original standard delivery charges are refunded on valid cooling-off cancellations; premium/express delivery upgrades are not.
  • Original delivery charges are not refunded on discretionary returns outside the cooling-off rules or for exchanges not due to fault.

5) What you can’t return

  • Any bottle that has been opened or unsealed (for health protection/hygiene reasons).
  • Personalised products (if applicable).
  • Items returned outside the stated window.

6) How to start a return

  1. Email contact@shantyspirit.com with your order number and reason for return (and photos if damaged).
  2. We’ll confirm the return address and instructions.
  3. Pack items securely; keep proof of posting.
  4. Once received and inspected, we’ll refund or exchange as requested.

7) Return shipping costs (summary)

  • Change-of-mind / non-faulty: customer pays return postage.
  • Faulty/damaged: Shanty Spirit covers return postage.
